Chadoora Gunfight: Local militant caught alive, deserted SPO succeeds to escape

A local militant was captured alive, in an encounter with militants in Chadoora area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday, while as the SPO who went missing three days ago, with two AK-47 rifles managed to give slip to government forces A top police official told news agency KDC that one local militant was captured alive with an assault rifle, while the deserted SPO managed to escape from the encounter site in Chadoora.

As per Sources, the local militant, identified as Jehangir Ahmed Bhat from Chadoora, who was apprehended alive was the associate of SPO Altaf Hassan, who three days ago fled with two AK-47 rifles from SOG camp in the same area. Earlier, Joint forces including Army's 55 RR, CRPF and Police had launched CASO in the area following specific inputs about militant presence. As joint forces encircled the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated by the joint force’s team, triggering an encounter that ended after one of the militants was captured alive while another one managed to escape.
