One trooper killed, 2 others injured as avalanche hits army post in Tanghdar

Army trooper killed, two injured after being swept away An Indian army trooper was killed, on while two others were injured after an avalanche hit their post in Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, on Tuesday evening, news agency KDC reported. Quoting Official sources, the agency said that the snow avalanche hit Roshan post in Tanghdar area at around 8 pm on Tuesday evening, sweeping away three troopers of the Indian Army.

A rescue operation was launched immediately and all the three troopers were retrieved from under the snow and shifted to hospital, where one among the three identified as Rifleman Nikhil Sharma aged 25 years of 7 Rashtriya Rifles was declared brought dead by the doctors. The other two troopers, who were injured in the incident, were identified as Ramesh Chand and Sepoy Gurvinder Singh, who are undergoing the treatment in the hospital. (KDC)
