Srinagar 17 February

The European Union delegation which arrived on Wednesday to review the situation in Kashmir following the repealing of Article 370, were welcomed with the showering of flower petals and singing of Kashmiri songs by the girls in Srinagar. However, talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader Rafi Ahmad Mir said that they were not invited to meet the delegation and neither party had any plan to meet them.

As Kashmir has received a few foreign delegations also in the past after the scrapping of statehood of J&K, the various leaders here and the ones from opposition at the centre epithet those delegations as tours and trips. The JKAP leader Rafi Mir said, “It is not the first time a delegation came here. These kinds of delegations keep coming here whether on their own or being guided by the Central government.”

“We were not invited to meet the delegation and had not any intended plan in this regard to meet them,” he said. While responding to one of the questions, Mir said that it will be appreciated if the dialogue generated from the delegation here is taken to some forum. Pertinently, the delegation comprises of envoys from Cuba, Chile, Brazil, Estonia, Bolivia, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherlands, EU, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Bangladesh, Malawi, Côte d’Ivoire, Eritrea, Senegal, Ghana, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
